چکیده

The method presented in this paper aims to reduce the overall radiation exposure from X-ray CT scans when only the reconstruction of a region of interest is required. To achieve this goal, the Searchlight CT algorithm restricts the acquisition to X-rays passing mainly through the region of interest. The algorithm uses an iteration of the X-ray transform and of a regularized inverse, which converges rapidly and for which generic conditions of converges are provided. The performance of the Searchlight CT algorithm is illustrated on both phantom and experimental data. General Terms Inverse Problems

3D-Image Reconstruction in Highly Collimated 3D Tomography

The paper introduces a novel method for image reconstruction in 3D tomography, called Searchlight Computed Tomography, which reduces the overall radiation exposure when primarily the reconstruction of a specified region of interest is required. To achieve this goal, the Searchlight CT approach restricts the acquisition essentially to X-rays passing through the region of interest of a 3D object,...

Full 3d Roi Image Reconstruction from Highly Collimated Computed Tomography

We introduce a novel method for full 3D Region Of Interest (ROI) reconstruction in computed tomography (CT), called Searchlight CT, which reduces the overall radiation exposure when primarily the reconstruction of a specified ROI is required. To achieve this goal, the Searchlight CT approach restricts the acquisition essentially to X-rays passing through the ROI, yet the algorithm provides a st...

Assessment of X-Ray Crosstalk in a Computed Tomography Scanner with Small Detector Elements Using Monte Carlo Method

Introduction: Crosstalk is a leakage of X-ray or light produced in a matrix of X-ray detectors or array of photodiodes in one element to other elements affecting on image contrast and spatial resolution. In this study, we assessed X-ray crosstalk in a computed tomography (CT) scanner with small detector elements to estimate the effect of various parameters such as X-ray tube voltage, detector e...

CT Reconstruction from a Limited Number of X-Ray Projections

Most CT reconstruction system x-ray computed tomography (CT) is a well established visualization technique in medicine and nondestructive testing. However, since CT scanning requires sampling of radiographic projections from different viewing angles, common CT systems with mechanically moving parts are too slow for dynamic imaging, for instance of multiphase flows or live animals. A large numbe...

Varying-energy CT imaging method based on EM-TV

For complicated structural components with wide x-ray attenuation ranges, conventional fixed-energy computed tomography (CT) imaging cannot obtain all the structural information. This limitation results in a shortage of CT information because the effective thickness of the components along the direction of x-ray penetration exceeds the limit of the dynamic range of the x-ray imaging system. To ...
